people are saying about Nancy!
Nancy
Weller spent over 15 years in corporate administration, while simultaneously operating a Jazzercise franchise before deciding to turn her passion for dogs into her life's work. She received her Certificate in Training and Counseling (CTC), with honors, from the San Francisco SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in 2000 under the tutelage of Jean Donaldson and Janis Bradley. The Academy provides a comprehensive and leading edge education to dog trainers, behavior counselors and other companion dog professionals. After graduation, Nancy joined SIRIUS Puppy Training and became one of their top trainers, teaching for over six years under the guidance of world-renown puppy trainer, Dr. Ian Dunbar.
In
September, 2002, Nancy Weller earned her Certified
Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) designation, the first nationally recognized accreditation for dog trainers. She passed an extensive test to become one of the first 300 trainers in the United States to have earned this title.
In
early 2007, she joined A DOG'S LIFE to implement a premier Puppy Training program, taking client's dogs from infancy to adulthood, preparing them to be the perfect pet dog, Canine Good Citizens, or to continue on to classes such as agility, fly ball, tracking, freestyle, pet-assisted therapy, Rally, etc. Nancy also offers group and private training for special interests such as multi-dog households, grooming the "fluffy" puppy, clicker training and conformation training.
Nancy
is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), and a member of the South Bay Trainers (SBT). Both groups provide ongoing education to their members. She has been a volunteer with the Humane Society Silicon Valley, training dog socializers and fostering numerous shelter puppies. Along with her husband and dogs, she has provided pet-assisted therapy services to nursing homes and a children's shelter. She lives with her husband, Bill, and her two Bichon Frise girls: "Kashi," a Delta-certified little old lady (now retired from pet-therapy services) and the youngster, "Iniki," a CGC certified Bichon Frise, who is currently "playing" the show circuit with owner/handler Nancy. And in her free time, Nancy likes to take classes with her own dogs.
